Keeping Safe from Coronavirus and Contagious Diseases While Staying in a Condo
We have all come to know newer contagious diseases, which at present are able to spread more easily throughout the world because of borderless commutes and connectivity. The same can be said for the novel coronavirus epidemic that started in China but has spread to numerous countries, including Thailand.
Awareness of this contagion is considered a positive development, but said awareness should be kept from developing into a panic. Everybody can apply a degree of self-care and preliminarily protect themselves from contracting the coronavirus.
Those who reside at condominiums have access to the common spaces, which are public areas that allow the residents – including the property owners as well as the tenants – to meet up with their neighbors. Bearing this in mind, everyone should place importance in maintaining hygiene and protecting themselves and others after each day spent outside the home, in order to keep the community safe from the disease.
Everybody can take general precautions such as wearing health masks and washing hands before having physical contact with others. Meanwhile, the maintenance of hygiene at the common spaces at a condominium is a matter of no less significance. Plus Property, in its capacity as a business providing management services for some 200 residential projects – which it provides under the PLUS Living Management model – has enacted the following intensive measures to suppress germs within a residential community:
1. Training of personnel by public health specialists or by staff of hospitals in the vicinity of each residential project. This allowed the residential project administrators to possess the correct knowledge and understanding. Individuals who received this training helped to further relay the acquired knowledge to all branches of personnel at residential projects, including housekeeping staff and security guards. All personnel must now wear health masks.
2. Hourly cleaning with a sanitising agent capable of eradicating 99.9% of pathogens at frequently touched surfaces such as elevator buttons, stairs railing and door handles. The frequency of cleaning for the common areas has been increased to 3 times per day –morning, early afternoon and early evening.
This is applied to areas such as, the fitness room, co-working spaces, the club house, the educational playground and the multi-purpose room. Operational reports on the hygiene measures are periodically issued via notices put in common areas to provide assurances to the residents of each community.
3. Bottles of sanitising gel and health masks are made available throughout condo buildings. Suggestions on how to correctly wash hands and wear health masks are provided in order to achieve increased efficiency in preventing COVID-19.
4. The frequency of disinfecting common spaces is increased. At certain projects, ozone treatment is applied to areas such as the lobby and the fitness room to ensure cleanliness and a germs-free environment. Residents are kept safe and their confidence is reinforced through this initiative.
5. Residents are kept informed at all times about relevant developments and any issuance of measures. Examples of developments relayed to residents are the measures issued to care for the residential project, and relevant measures issued by the public sector. Residents are informed of these news through the Home Service application, in addition to other channels that are appropriate for each community.
Information is provided to residents to help them engage in safe conducts that keep them away from harm by the coronavirus. Examples are infographics produced to give tips about self-care, correct hand washing method and the correct way to put on a health mask; these have been propagated through posters in each residential project as well as through emails to residents and through social media posts by Plus Property.
6. Contact numbers of nearby hospitals have been prepared and coordination has been made with the hospitals to accommodate emergencies and to ensure that medical assistance is available and health checks can be undertaken smoothly.
Partnerships have been erected with hospitals in the vicinity of each residential project that would provide healthcare benefits to residents. An example would be discount cards that residents can use when receiving services from a partner hospital.
